For this project, the task was to create a magazine spread using an open source article, and make the article more visually engaging using photography and effective typography. The article I chose is an article about studio glass, found on Wikipedia. Using a strong typographic hierarchy, engaging photographs and colors, and a background that mimics stained glass, I created a magazine spread that invites readers in and gives them immediate visual information about what the article contains. I created the layout using a grid, but made sure to place elements in a way that they almost feel randomly placed, similar to the pieces of a pile of broken glass.
